Here is a 4 minute screencast to help develop discussion around use of the SMART table. It includes the description of 6 activities that encourage
1. Individual work
2. Competition or
3. Collaboration on an ‘open ended’ task or project
4. Collaboration to meet a specific outcome (timed activities/successful completion leads to a further activity)
I am interested in also developing discussion around activities that are open ended that encourage collaboration between the students. For example, there may be no correct answer or the table is being used as a tool to support research or presentation.

Thanks for this Richard. These are some really useful examples. I like the way you have thought through the pedagogical steps and specifically how the children will work together. The annotations and arrows are very helpful
The Hot Spots (or Hot Spaces) ideas look like real winners to me…you can get some real reinforcement when a correct answer moves it to the next screen. I’m looking forward to see lots of inventive teacher-generated content popping up in your posts!
